MELBOURNE, JUNE 2026 — Buffer Room concluded at Creative Asia Art Centre last week, bringing together 22 emerging artists in a group exhibition exploring ideas of belonging, transition, identity, and the spaces we inhabit between places, communities, and experiences.

Presented by Creative Asia Foundation, the exhibition transformed the gallery into a temporary environment shaped by personal narratives, installations, photography, painting, moving image, and interdisciplinary practices. Through diverse artistic approaches, participating artists reflected on questions of connection, displacement, cultural memory, and the search for belonging in an increasingly mobile world.

The opening night welcomed artists, families, friends, and members of the wider community, creating an opportunity for audiences to engage with the works and connect with the artists behind them. The exhibition featured contributions from artists based in Australia and internationally, highlighting the shared experiences and conversations that continue to shape contemporary life across different cultural contexts.

Throughout the exhibition period, visitors were invited to slow down, reflect, and spend time within a space designed for contemplation and exchange. Together, the works offered multiple perspectives on how individuals navigate change, negotiate identity, and create meaning within moments of transition.

Creative Asia Foundation extends its sincere thanks to all participating artists, visitors, supporters, and community members who contributed to the success of Buffer Room.
While the exhibition has now come to a close, the conversations it fostered continue beyond the gallery, reflecting the ongoing role of contemporary art in bringing people together through shared experiences and dialogue.
